Solihull Moors have parted company with manager Liam McDonald after “a string of disappointing results” has left them languishing 23rd in the National League.
The 32-year-old had been charge at Damson Park for less than a year, and leaves Moors without a win in six games and following last night’s 3-1 defeat at home to Ebbsfleet United.
Solihull have said they hope to announce a new manager very soon, but head coach Keith Bertschin and director of football Mark Fogarty will take charge of Saturday’s home match against Hartlepool United.
In a statement on the club’s website, the departing McDonald said: “Football is a results driven business and given the poor start to the season it is right for me to hand over the reigns at this time.
“We have had a spate of injuries and many of our games have been very close – however, that is not good enough.
“I am proud of keeping The Moors in the National League and wish the players and everyone associated with the club the best for the future.”
McDonald was appointed in November 2016 to replace Marcus Bignot, who had led Solihull into the National League the previous season.
