A thrilling day in the FA Cup: round-up and gallery of the action

The FA Cup fourth round qualifying draw provided us with a brilliant weekend of action, as Hereford shocked Eastleigh on an epic day of upsets.
The Bulls stole the headlines, and our front page, after holding on to beat their opponents and continue their love affair with this famous old competition.

While the win at the Silverlake Stadium may not be mentioned in the same breath as Ronnie Radford and Newcastle United in years to come, Peter Beadle’s men were history boys of their own with Mike McGrath and Garyn Preen sealing an amazing win.
Kidderminster Harriers also pulled off a big shock on Saturday afternoon, as the National League North side comfortably beat Marcus Bignot’s Chester 2-0.
Like Hereford, Kiddy may have enjoyed more famous days in the FA Cup, but the win over a side in the league above cannot be underestimated because of just how dominant and impressive they were.
Goals from Emmanuel Sonupe and Joe Ironside booked their side’s place in tonight’s draw, and sent Chester tumbling out of the competition after failing to register a shot on target at Aggborough.
History was made at Truro City, as they became the first Cornish club to reach the FA Cup first round proper in 48 years with a slender 2-0 win over Hampton & Richmond.
Noah Keates scored both goals, but City goalkeeper Tom McHale was the real hero after he saved Dan Sweeney’s penalty seven minutes from time, with the score delicately poised at 1-0.

South Shields were denied a hat-trick of FA Cup upsets, after Hartlepool snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat at a packed Mariners Park.
Shields took the lead midway through the first half, and were dreaming of a third scalp of the season, but second half goals from Devante Rodney and Nicky Deverdics meant Pools safely went through to tonight’s draw.
Maidstone United also saved their blushes having gone behind to lower league opposition, but will have to face Town in a replay after drawing 2-2 with their Bostik Premier opponents.
In-form Zavon Hines could have made it a comfortable afternoon for his side, but saw two penalties saved either side of Simon Thomas giving Enfield the lead.
Alex Wynter equalised for the hosts before a Darren Purse penalty put Town back in front, but Joe Pigott rose highest in stoppage time to snatch Town’s unlikely Cup victory away from them.
