More directors exit the Martyrs boardroom as cash-strapped club struggles through crisis

Two club directors have resigned from the board at  as the exodus at the upper levels of the club continues.
Meurig Price and John Strand have left their roles with immediate effect and join former vice-chairman Anthony Hughes, chief executive Rob Price, and board members Mike Wiliams, Jamie Mack and Robert Parker as personnel to have left the club since September.
This has had a trickle down effect on the players, 80% of which walked out the gates Penydarren Park last week leaving the club having to field a string of youngsters in their South Premier match with at the weekend.
A 13-1 trouncing saw country-wide attention drawn to the Merthyrs predicament which the club say has been exacerbated by the fixture list allowing them to host only nine matches (out of a total of 21) in all competitions thus far this season, leading to a loss of revenue.
After drastically cutting their playing budget, the club confirmed in a statement last Friday: “Cashflow at the club has become extremely tight due to lack of home games since October.  All avenues of expenditure are being re-evaluated to protect club going forward.
What remains of the board will meet today (Monday, 20th November) at an emergency meeting to plan for the club’s survival.
The three-time Welsh Cup winners sit 13th in the Evo-Stik South Premier division and one crowdfunding page is appealing to fans to help raise £7,500 needed to pay and outstanding tax bill.
