The FA have announced Bostik North side Bowers & Pitsea have been removed from the FA Trophy having fielded a suspended player, with their defeated opponents Egham Town reinstated to the competition.
Bowers were charged after playing Jamie Dicks, who was ineligible due to a suspension picked up at former club Romford.
With the midfielder joining Rob Small’s side just days before their clash with Egham, the club appealed, claiming a fault with the FA System which highlights suspensions – but that explanation was rejected.
Egham, who will now face Margate in the second qualifying round on Saturday, said in a statement on their website: “After two entertaining matches between us, it is sad to have an ending based on a mistake.
“Not how either team would want to progress. We wish Bowers & Pitsea good luck for the rest of the season.”
In a thrilling first round qualifying replay, Bowers were victorious thanks to a 5-3 win after extra-time.
