Torquay boss Owers hoping to build momentum after thrashing Leyton Orient

By Matt Bishop
Torquay boss Gary Owers is hoping his side can now build up some momentum after the Gulls claimed their first back-to-back wins of the season.
The strugglers thrashed 3-0 on Saturday to back-up their impressive midweek victory over Sutton United, and are now up to 22nd in ‘s top tier.
It is an encouraging run of form for Owers’ men, who have won just four times all season, and the former boss is now hoping Torquay can carry on picking up results.
“Hopefully this is the start of an upward trend,” Owers said, speaking to Radio Devon.
“Back-to-back victories, with another home game coming up, we should be full of confidence and optimism.
Torquay were excellent on Saturday at Plainmoor, comfortably beating Orient to condemn their East London counterparts to a fifth game without a win.
Owers, however, still wants more from his ever-improving side, and said: “It wasn’t perfect, we could have done better in the first half and if I’m honest one or two really good chances went begging.
“So there’s always room for improvement, and that’s apparent still if you look at the league table and I’ve warned the players about that.”
