National League North side York City have announced the departure of Gary Martin following a “disciplinary issue”.
The 27-year-old striker, who scored during the Minstermen’s FA Trophy win over Coalville on Saturday, only joined the club at the beginning of November, hoping to “help get York City back where they should be.”
However, Martin’s spell at Bootham Crescent has been cut short and he is now free to find another club.
In a short statement, York said: “Striker Gary Martin has parted company with York City Football Club with immediate effect following a disciplinary issue.
“Martin, 27, joined the club on a non-contract basis on November 2 after being released by Belgian club Lokeren.”
“The club will be making no further comment on the matter.”
