Eastleigh winger Gary McSheffery has left the club just two months after joining the National League side.
The 35-year-old, who once cost Birmingham City £4 million when he joined the Blues from boyhood club Coventry, spent last season with League Two Doncaster Rovers before joining the Spitfires in September.
McSheffrey signed a deal until January, but continued to live up north and has now agreed to leave the Silverlake Stadium in order to spend more time with his family.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the experienced wideman said: “I’d like to thank everybody involved with Eastleigh FC for my short spell there.
“After a discussion with the manager, we agreed to bring my contract to an early end as it was proving difficult logistically with a young family.
“I wish them all the best and hope they can achieve their ambitions of being a football league club in the future.”
Eastleigh are currently languishing in 18th in the National League, but McSheffrey impressed during his 11 appearances for the club, scoring twice.
A Spitfires statement said: “The club would like to thank Gary for his contributions to Eastleigh FC and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
