Strikers Josh McQuiod and Rhys Murphy have returned to Luton Town and Forest Green respectively, after their loan deals expired at Torquay United.
Of the two, Northern Ireland international McQuiod featured most in the first-team plans under Gary Owers and the Gulls boss said he may work on re-signing the player ahead of searching for a replacement.
“In Josh McQuoid’s case there might be an opportunity at a later stage to revisit that,” Owers said of the forward who scored three times in 15 appearances for the National League side.
Joining McQuiod and Murphy in exiting Plainmoor is midfielder Callum Evans who also takes the route back up the M5 to Forest Green.
With options among his squad lighter by three, Owers confirmed he will be in the transfer market to source some quality for his side’s survival having won their last two league matches.
“With three players moving out of the squad we are actively looking to find a couple of replacements.
“All three have returned and we thank them for their efforts when they were here,” Owers commented.
Torquay travel to Eastleigh on Boxing Day for Andy Hessenthaler’s first home game in charge of the Spitfires.
