Determined John Askey has moved to ensure there will be no slip-ups in Macclesfield Town‘s title assault – by adding three more key members to his squad.
The Silkmen are the bookies’ favourites to reclaim their place back in the Football League, boasting a four-point lead at the top of the National League going into the final third of the season.
Askey, however, is making sure there’s no stone unturned in his quest to lead the club to promotion by announcing the arrival of three new loan signings this week to further strengthen the Moss Rose ranks.
The boss has beaten Wrexham to the signature of Plymouth Argyle striker Nathan Blissett, while also adding Forest Green Rovers right-back Callum Evans and centre-back Adam Dugdale from Southport.
All three have been brought in with the help of the ‘Silkmen Campaign Fund’ with Blissett and Evans, joining for the remainder of the season, and Dugdale on a one-month deal.
Six-foot four inch striker Blissett, 27, has fallen out of favour at League 1 Plymouth this season having joined from Devon rivals Torquay United 12 months ago.
Evans, meanwhile, is a familiar face at Moss Rose having joined on loan in 2016-17, only for the spell to be cut short by injury.
The 22-year-old progressed through the ranks at Barnsley before moving to the New Lawn last summer.
Dugdale, 30, has found himself on the fringes of the Southport squad in National League North this season but will add valuable experience to the Silkmen ranks having turned out in Non-League‘s top-flight for Barrow, AFC Telford and Eastleigh.
All three will all be available to make their debuts in Macclesfield’s trip to AFC Fylde on Saturday.
