National League North club Chester have announced the signing of midfielder Gary Stopforth.
The 31-year-old came through the youth ranks at Blackburn Rovers, where he was subsequently awarded a professional contract.
After leaving Ewood Park Stopforth played plenty of Non-League football, representing the likes of Clitheroe, Kendal Town and AFC Fylde.
Stopforth has also had a spell in America and has played under current Chester managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley at both Ramsbottom and Salford.
The midfielder spent the latter half of last season with Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Colne, where he made 11 first team appearances.
In what has been a busy close season at the Deva Stadium, Stopforth has become Johnson and Morley’s eight summer signing.
