His impressive performances caught the attention of the then-Championship team Leicester City. He was signed by Leicester City in 2012 for a record £1 million fee. He proved himself very valuable for the team.
Jamie Vardy played a crucial role in the Championship victory for the club in 2014. And in the 2015-16 season, he set a Premier League record and helped his club in winning the Premier League title that year. Charlie Austin
Charlie Austin played non-league football for a long time. As a youngster, he used to train with Reading’s youth teams. He also played for local teams Kintbury Rangers and later Hungerford Town. When Charlie Austin moved to Bournemouth with his family, he played for Poole Town as a semi-professional while doing a part-time job as a bricklayer. The amazing Austin scored an incredible 46 goals in the 2008-09 season for Poole Town.
Swindon Town noticed the amazing talent of Charlie Austin and gave him an opportunity. He shone for Swindon Town too where he scored 31 goals in 54 games. He then moved to Burnley in 2011 and subsequently to Queens Park Rangers in 2013. He proved himself very useful in winning QPR promotion to the Premier League.
Charlie Austin gave an outstanding performance in the Premier League. He scored five goals in five games and so won the Premier League Player of the Month award. He was only the second QPR player who received the honor. In that season, he scored an incredible 18 goals in the Premier League. Unfortunately his team QPR was relegated from the Premier League, though he returned very quickly to the Premier League joining Southampton as his new team.
Gary Hooper
Gary Hooper started playing for Grays Athletic in 2003 when he was only 15 years old. He scored 12 goals in 30 matches and thus helped his new team promote to the Conference South. He also played for Grays in the FA Trophy Final in the 2004-05 season.
In 2006, he went on trials for two clubs- Barnet and Southend United. The then manager of Southend United gave Hooper a 1-year contract. He joined several other clubs of Leyton Orient, Hereford United and Scunthorpe before he was picked up by Celtic. He was very successful at Celtic where in the season 2011-12, he scored 24 goals and became the top scorer in the Scottish Premier League. The talented forward scored 63 goals in his 95 appearances for Celtic.
He then moved to Norwich City who was newly promoted to the Premier League. He scored eight goals in his first season but still, he could not prevent the relegation of his team to the Championship again. He scored in 4 consecutive games of the Premier League becoming the only Norwich player to do so.
