After beating Boreham Wood at the weekend, Blyth Spartans have been handed an even tougher test in the 3rd round of the FA Trophy after they were drawn against National League leaders Leyton Orient.
Alun Armstong’s side are one of the most in-form teams at Step 2 level having not fallen to defeat in all competitions since the start of November but they will have to be at their very best if they are to come away from East London with a result.
As for the Step 3 and 4 sides, Carshalton Athletic have been handed a home tie against National League play-off chasers Barnet, while Weymouth or Ramsbottom will face Dave Challinor’s AFC Fylde.
Elsewhere in the draw there will be an all National League North encounter between AFC Telford and Spennymoor Town, last year’s winners Brackley Town may well fancy their chances at National League strugglers Chesterfield and Harrogate Town will come up against Jim Gannon’s red hot Stockpot County side.
