UK Police Forces lifted the Staffordshire Bell Trophy with a win on penalties over the UK Fire Services – and now take on Wales Police this Thursday.
The special match was held at Braintree Town‘s Cressing Road and saw a tight contest go the distance.
The fiercely contested match finished 1-1 with the Police eventually coming out on top, winning 5-4 on penalties.
Police captain Stevie Gordon, from Northern Ireland, converted the winning penalty and also picked up the man of the match award from the sponsors iCore Ltd.
This Thursday the England Police Forces begin their Home Nations Forces Tournament against Wales Police at Luton Town and then travel to Inverness in April to play Scotland Police.
England and UK Police team manager Nicky Smith, the former Southend United and Colchester United midfielder, was delighted with the team’s victory and has high hopes that England will win this years Home Nations Police Championships this season.
