Jody Banim falls on his sword at Ashton United

BetVictor strugglers have started the hunt for a new manager after parting company with Jody Banim.
The former boss, pictured, left Hurst Cross on Tuesday morning after his side’s seventh defeat of the season on Saturday, a 4-0 home humbling at the hands of that left the Robins fifth from bottom.
Banim, who led the Robins to promotion to North in 2018, was thanked by the club for his efforts in a statement announcing his departure by ‘mutual consent’.


The statement read: “The board at Ashton United has today decided to part company with manager Jody Banim by mutual consent.
“The club wishes to place on record our thanks to Jody for his commitment and work over the past few years, both as a player and manager, especially in achieving promotion to The .
“We wish him all the very best for the future. Further information regarding the vacant position will be released in due course.”

DEPARTED: Will Haining and Jody Banim

Banim, 41, was appointed in September 2016 as joint manager alongside Will Haining after the pair replaced Paul Phillips and Steve Halford.
Banim took sole charge of the Tamesiders in April 2017 before guiding the club to promotion the following season. As widely predicted, the Robins struggled to compete at that level before returning to the NPL this season.
Former striker Banim kicked off his playing career at Manchester United before going on to score goals for a host of clubs including Accrington Stanley, Burton Albion, Flixton, , Radcliffe Borough, Rossendale United, Salford City, Shrewsbury Town, , and . He also turned out for Real Maryland Monarchs in the United States.
