LOYAL Notts County fan Lois Brough received the perfect 90th birthday present when she was invited to Meadow Lane to speak with head coach Ian Burchnall and the players.
Lois, the long-serving membership secretary of Notts County’s official supporters’ club, was presented with her own Magpies shirt with Lois Brough 90 inscribed a few days before turning 90 on Christmas Day.
She has been a Notts supporter since the age of eight and explained: “My father took me at first to watch Forest – but every time we went, they lost. So I asked him if we could go to see the other lot across the river.
“I’ve loved the experience. From watching Notts among crowds of 40,000-plus to the team of today.
“Notts fans are very loyal – and that’s nice. I’ve met so many special people over the years and have so many memories. It’s not just a game for me – more a way of life.”
Burchnall is determined they play Wrexham today despite some players being ruled out with Covid.
“We could probably request for the game to be called off, but I feel quite strongly that if we have sufficient players available we should try to play,” Burchnall said.
