WREXHAM are already a club with friends in high places – now they can even add the Royal Family to that illustrious list.
The National League club received a visit by royal appointment on Friday when King Charles and the Queen Consort visited their Racecourse Ground home.
Their Majesties were handed a tour of the stadium and chatted with the club’s co-owners, Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, plus members of both the men’s, women’s and youth teams, including high-profile new signing from Hull City, Andy Cannon.
The King was heard wishing players luck for their trip to Eastleigh yesterday, while Camilla told another player: “It’s an extraordinary story.”
The visit formed part of the celebration of Wrexham being handed city status.
Following the meeting, McElhenney tweeted, “You really have to watch Welcome to Wrexham for this to make sense. And even then, it still not might make sense.”
