CHARITY TROPHY REACHES FINALE

THE Graham Edwards Memorial Trophy charity tournament reaches its climax this afternoon when Gobowen Celtic look to defend their title against .

The final – arematch of last year’s showdown that Gobowen won on penalties – takes place at Gobowen playing field, near Oswestry, with a 3pm kick-off.

St Martins booked their place with a 2-0 win over The Keys, St Martins on Thursday night with goals from Luke Dulson and Josh Davies.

Gobowen beat Ellesmere United on Tuesday thanks to Lewis Jones’ goal in a 1-0 win.

The annual tournament featured eight teams in two groups with games running throughout July.

More than £165,000 has been raised by the tournament since 1975, in the memory of promising young footballer Graham Edwards, who died aged 21 just six weeks after being diagnosed with Leukaemia.

At 2pm, the Graham Edwards Memorial Junior Cup sees Oswestry Boys and Girls Club U11s take on Randlay Colts Juniors U11s.
