CHESTER ended the last unbeaten home record in National League North as title-chasing South Shields conceded for the first time in 11 outings.
Liam Edwards’ first goal in Chester colours seven minutes from the break ended the Mariners’ impressive record.
For Edwards it was redemption after an own goal in midweek, rising to meet Declan Weeks’ corner to nod home past Shields keeper Myles Boney.
