NPL move

THE NORTHERN Premier League have postponed two Marske United games while they look into a recent takeover.

Yesterday’s clash against Worksop Townwas cancelled, as is Tuesday’s fixture with Lancaster City.

The Seasiders announced last month that a new venture – Marske United FC Ltd – was to take control of the day-today running.

Earlier this week, they confirmed nearly 10,000 shares – available for £1 – had been sold, but on Friday night the NPL revealed the club would be suspended while they made further enquiries into the takeover.

Marske, 19th in the NPL Premier before yesterday, said: “The club received information from the NPL that our licence to play has been suspended. This was immediately followed by a request for further information from the League regarding the recent change in ownership following the departure of the previous chairman.

“The club is co-operating fully and our team of volunteers are working hard to complete the information required.

“We are working to resolve the issue in co-operation with the League and the Football Association who have been contacted for further guidance.”
