UNITED’S WORRIED FANS IN PROTEST

SOUTHEND United fans took to the streets in protest yesterday amid fears that the long, drawn-out takeover of the troubled National League club may collapse.
Prospective buyers, the Custodians of Southend United (COSU), this week raised “urgent” concerns that a property element of the contract which has caused the takeover to stall now “seems certain” to miss the deadline of the club’s winding-up hearing, which is set to be heard in the High Court on June 26.
