Sutton gaffer Morison snaps up trio

FOCUSED boss Steve Morison has stepped up his bid to steer Sutton United back into the EFL with an impressive treble swoop.

Morison vacated the hotseat to become Sutton boss in January but couldn’t save the U;s from falling out of the League Two trapdoor back into .

But he has been handed the tools required to dig his way back into the EFL – and is using them wisely with no fewer than 12 arrivals having arrived at Gander Green Lane so far this summer.

This week, Morison has pulled out one player from the Premier League in Jack Wadham and two from the EFL with Harry Ransom and Lewis Simper coming in from Crawley Town and Cambridge United respectively.

But the U’s have lost key defender Ben Goodliffe, who was snapped up by League Two side Colchester United for an undisclosed fee.

Midfielder Wadham, 21, arrives on a permanent deal from Bournemouth having enjoyed a successful loan spell at last season.

Ransom, 24, a former and Millwall defender, helped Crawley Town win promotion to League One with victory in the playoff final against Crewe Alexandra at .

‘’I’m buzzing to have secured Harry,” Morison said. “He’ll bring quality, experience and leadership qualities to our back line and will be someone we can rely on day in and day out.”

Simper, 22, has been at Cambridge United throughout his career, taking in loan spells at , , , and .

Morison added: “He’s an excellent purchase who has many top attributes and brings excellent balance to our midfield and also excellent set-piece delivery. He has energy and quality on the ball.”
