A PAIR of top teen talents have landed dream moves to the Championship following successful summer trials.
Young defender Zac Jeanes, 18, has been snapped up by the Swansea City Academy despite playing just one first-team start at Worthing.
Jeanes was a regular for the Rebels’ under-18’s side, and featured on the bench for the first team on numerous occasions.
Now, after a pre-season trial in south Wales, he has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with an option of an additional 12 months, keeping him with the Swans until June 2026.
“Zac had been brought to my attention whilst he was at Worthing,” Swansea’s head of academy recruitment Paul Compton said of the former Horsham YMCA player.
“I’m a firm believer that there is a lot of undiscovered talent in Non-League football. I went to watch him play for Worthing Under-18s, and he did very well.
Asset
“When he came in on trial, he was everything about the way we play. He’s got good ball management and likes to go forward. He’s never been in the academy system, and I’m sure he’ll be a great asset.”
Jeanes could well now come up against 19-year-old striker Jaiden Celestine-Charles, who has linked up with Millwall.
Celestine-Charles, who most recently spent time at Combined Counties Premier North side Burnham FC and in Wealdstone‘s Academy, was handed a pre-season trial at The Den and scored for the Lions in a friendly against the Stones on July 20.
After scoring 16 goals from 33 appearances for Burnham last season, the talented forward was identified by Millwall’s head of emerging talents, Lucas Millgate, and invited for a trial, while the player was holidaying in Mexico.
Despite the distance, he followed a specific pre-season fitness plan that allowed him to hit the ground running upon his return.
Celestone-Charles has been working closely with Neil Harris’ first team at and is expected to feature in his first game at The Den for the Under 21s against Burnley on Tuesday afternoon.
Proud Burnham chairman Glenn Skivington said: Everyone at Burnham FC is delighted. We know how hard he works, so it’s well deserved and we wish JC every success on his journey into professional football.”
