TONY Fawcett says the time was right to walk away as manager of Consett after two years in charge.
The Steelmen have picked up just two points from their opening five games in NPL West and have won once in their last 22 games.
Fawcett, who secured back-toback mid-table finishes over the last two seasons at the club, said: “I’ve loved my time at Consett and made some good friends at the club, but I think the time is right to step away and give someone else a chance to turn things around.
