FC UNITED of Manchester have parted company with manager Neil Reynolds after almost six years in charge.
Reynolds, who joined the Red Rebels from Bamber Bridge in October 2018, was dismissed following Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Warrington Rylands.
That result left FC United in the bottom four of the NPL Premier with just one win and six points to show from their opening eight league matches.
Their only win came against Morpeth Town on the opening weekend and, since then, they have also been knocked out of the FA Cup by local rivals Hyde United.
In his six years in charge, Reynolds, 47, led FC United to the innaugural Fenix Trophy back in 2021 before then reclaiming the trophy back in May, beating Czech club Prague Raptors 4-0 in the final.
Domestically, Reynolds has kept the well-backed phoenix club afloat at Step 3 and in a “financially sustainable” way.
He only signed a new two-year deal with the club in January, taking his time in charge to the end of the 2025/26 season.
Confirming Reynolds’ departure, along with that of his assistant Mike Faulkner, at around 3am on Wednesday morning, a club statement said: “This decision has been made in the best interests of the club as we aim to improve our performances and results moving forward.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to Neil for his dedication and hard work over the past six years.
“His time at the club has been marked by many memorable moments, and we will take time to reflect on his contributions. We wish Neil every success in his future endeavours.”
Assistant Rob Henry and Charlie Ennis have taken temporary charge of first-team affairs until a permanent successor is appointed.
