Dean’s right, five subs rule offers nothing

THERE have been a couple of changes to regulations at Steps 1 and 2 that I don’t believe have enhanced the game.
Firstly, allowing five substitutions per team has made second halves very stop-start. In a recent match report, Barnet manager Dean Brennan said: “This new rule about five substitutes is ruining the end of games. All the managers aren’t happy as it’s slowing the game down and killing the last 10-15 minutes of games.” He is spot on.
