IT was my misfortune last Saturday to come across a team, which will remain nameless, playing away in the Northern Counties East League, whose approach to football was the worst I have ever seen (and I must have seen well over 2,000 matches, at all levels).
Their language was appalling. Two players in particular gave a young female assistant referee consistent foul verbal abuse, which was taken ‘on the chin’ and not flagged up to the match referee.
