Clear Your Throats For The Unsung Hero

truly harnesses the community spirit. Without it at this level would fail to function.

Unsung programmesAfter all it’s not just about turning up at 3pm on a Saturday. Hours of often unheralded hard work goes in behind the  scenes from hundreds of committed volunteers.

Whether that be washing the kit, making tea for the officials or standing on the turnstiles come rain or shine, sleet or snow.

And they do it for one reason – love of the beautiful game. So we want to give a bit of the love back and say a big thank  you to the people that keep football moving in this country.

The ‘s , in association with Budweiser Club Futures, is recognising this dedication and loyalty at our May 15 ceremony.

We’re proud to be introducing a new, and very special, prize – the Budweiser Club Futures Programme Unsung Hero.

We want your help to crown that very special person at your club or in the Non-League family, so start sending in your  nominations.

From the groundsman who turns up at 6am to get the pitch looking like a snooker table to the person who makes piles of sandwiches for the fans or puts in hours of unpaid graft to produce a match day programme to be proud of.

Macclesfield snowWhat about the manager who does it all – picks the team, completes all the registration forms or even comes up with ideas to raise vital funds for the club – or even a photographer who snaps away game after game to help raise the profile of the club in the area?

Tell us in no more than 150 words who you think deserves to be at The NGA’s next month, by post or email. The winner will be invited to attend the Awards ceremony at Fulham’s Craven Cottage, mixing with the great and good of grass-roots at our May 15 ceremony.

Budweiser Club Futures is a programme investing £1m into grassroots football. Season two applications will be live on thefa.com from July 2013.
