BRADFORD PARK AVENUE hope to name their new manager in the upcoming days after sacking head coach Alex Meechan.
Meechan – who will remain as a coach with Avenue’s academy – joined the club in March as assistant to Darren Edmondson and the pair led the club to safety in the National League North.
Edmondson’s future was up in the air following the end of the campaign and the club turned to Meechan as their new manager in June.
Unfortunately for the former AFC Telford and Barrow assistant, the season hasn’t gone to plan and he was relieves of his duties following their FA Cup defeat to Salford City on Saturday.
That defeat was their eighth in a row, a record for the reformed club, with Avenue sitting bottom of the National League North and still searching for their first win of the campaign.
A club statement read: “Bradford Park Avenue head coach Alex Meechan has been relieved of his duties, having failed to win any of the 11 games so far this season.
“Avenue crashed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle on Saturday at home against Salford, and sit bottom of the Vanarama National League North having picked up just three points from their ten league games so far.
“The board is pleased to confirm that Alex will continue his role as the coach of the new Avenue Academy. The club hope to name a successor in the next few days.”
