LINCOLN CITY have lost FA Cup goal hero Theo Robinson after he signed a deal at League One side Southend United with just two minutes remaining on Deadline Day.
Robinson scored the third goal against Brighton last Saturday as the Imps shocked Championship leaders Brighton to earn a place in the FA Cup fifth round.
The 28-year-old striker signed for Lincoln in October after training with the club and was reportedly on a non-contract deal with the National League leaders.
He scored seven times in the FA Cup for the Imps, netting nine overall in all competitions, and has moved back into the Football League with his former club Southend.
The former Huddersfield, Derby and Doncaster striker spent time on loan with the Shrimpers in 2009 and is back at Roots Hall on a two-and-a-half year contract.
A Lincoln statement confirmed: “We can confirm that Theo Robinson has left the club this evening (Tuesday), signing a two-and-a-half year deal with Southend United.
“In thanking Theo for his efforts whilst at Sincil Bank, which saw him net seven goals in our Emirates FA Cup run and nine in total, we wish him every success for the future.”
The impending deal didn’t seem to have much impact on the Lincoln squad, however, as they won 1-0 at Solihull Moors to remain at the top of the table.
