WREXHAM‘S side could have a more youthful look to it for the rest of the National League season according to manager Dean Keates.
Keates replaced Gary Mills as Dragons boss in October and a run of six victories in ten games since the turn of the year has taken them away from trouble.
They sit tenth in the table although they are now ten points adrift of the play-offs after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to in-form Gateshead.
Youngsters Leo Smith and George Harry both came on as substitutes in that game with striker Harry only making his second senior appearance.
And Keates says if the club’s youth continue to impress in training, they will be given an opportunity to show what they can do in the remaining games of the season – starting with Saturday’s trip to Forest Green.
“There’s nine games left and I’m more than prepared to give the lads a chance,” Keates said.
“Performance wise they’ve done OK, they’ve trained well in the early part of the week and we’ll see what happens during the rest of the week. I’ll have a think about it Friday.
“We’re not looking over our shoulder anymore and it’s probably a little too far-fetched to get into the play-offs. A lot of teams have got games in hand over us and if they pick up points the gap gets bigger.”
