PREMIER League giants Arsenal have been criticised for leaving the away dressing room at Gander Green Lane in a tip after the FA Cup fifth round tie on Monday night.
The facilities at Sutton United’s home may be a world away from what the Gunners are used to but there is an unwritten rule in Non-League that expects away sides to leave changing rooms in the condition they were found.
However, this wasn’t the case following the tie, which was televised on the BBC on Monday night, with pictures showing plenty of mess left behind by Arsene Wenger’s side.
Lucas Perez and Theo Walcott scored the goals for Arsenal as they made it through a tricky tie on Sutton’s 3G pitch with a 2-0 victory.
But they were seemingly in a rush to get away after the game and left tape, toilet roll, drinks, milk and programmes for Sutton to clean up.
After seeing the pictures, Paralympic gold medalist Tanni Grey-Thompson tweeted: “‘I’d make them get back off the bus and tidy up.
“[They should have a] bit of respect for their surroundings. Doesn’t matter how much you earn or how successful you are.”
It’s not all been bad news, however, with Arsenal set to donate £50,000 to the National League club’s community fund with U’s boss Paul Doswell saying it would pay for two classrooms for the club’s next generation of stars.
Probably used to having some flunky clean up after them
