A CLOSELY contested cup tie was settled by a goal on the hour by Orlando Smith.
Smith recovered from a 44th minute headfirst dive over the advertising hoardings to volley the ball home from a David Martin cross.
Both defences had looked compact, but Smith had a 13th minute opportunity to put Margate ahead when he beat the offside trap to slip the ball past Ross Hampton, but hit the post.
