■ RICHARD Blythe’s second- half strike sealed Rugby’s progress against higher-ranked Evesham – and it was fully deserved.
Valley had the better of a tense and scrappy game, looking sharper and more cohesive.
The best opening of the first half came in stoppage time when United keeper Harvey Rivers produced a double save from Justin Marsden’s low drive and Danico Johnson’s follow up.
The decider came seven minutes after the break. Johnson found Blythe to score with a drive that rippled the roof of the net.
