MARTIN ALLEN heaped praise on his Chesterfield side after avoiding the FA Cup banana skin of big-spending Billericay to earn themselves a home tie with Grimsby Town in round two.
A hat-trick from giant striker Tom Denton proved just too much for Dean Brennan’s Ricay to handle as Chesterfield extended their unbeaten run to ten matches with a 3-1 success at the New Lodge.
And Allen admitted he was relieved to be in the hat to face the Mariners after Billericay gave them an almighty scare on home soil.
