A CLUB-RECORD gate of 1,152 saw Maldon & Tiptree run out deserving winners to reach the FA Cup first round for the first time. In the process, they dashed hosts Royston’s hopes of a maiden venture into the first round.
The Crows started brightly and nearly took the lead on seven minutes. A thumping half-volley from Scott Bridges rattled the Jammers’ post.
However, it was Maldon who took the lead midway through the half as the unfortunate Dan Brathwaite could only turn a dangerous cross from Al-Amin Kazeem into his own net.
