THAME UNITED were seconds away from a South Coast Cup shock but Margate manged to equalise in the 93rd minute.
The visitors first sent shock waves through the hosts by taking the lead in the eighth minute when Lynton Goss broke free and calmly slotted the ball home past Gate keeper Pat Ohman.
Gate’s Bivesh Gurung responded with a fierce shot that Thame keeper Craig Hill tipped over the bar.
Then James Bessey-Saldanha’s shot crashed against the crossbar.
But the visitors held on for a half-time advantage.
