The home side had the best of the early exchanges with the visiting keeper spilling a shot from Owen Humphries, and Ben Starr curling wide.
It was the visitors who took the lead after 12 minutes – Frome appealed for a foul on half way, but play continued and a cross from the right was inevitably fired home by ex-Frome striker Kane Simpson.
Tiverton should have doubled their lead before the break, but a last-ditch sliding tackle from Warren Maidment with the open goal beckoning averted the danger...
