HITCHIN suffered their first defeat in 12 matches at the hands of a more enterprising Hayes & Yeading United.
Hayes playmakers Scott Donnelly and Scott Bridges marshalled the midfield but the closest the hosts came to a goal was when a defensive header from the visitors needed Hassan Jalloh to clear from the line.
At the other end a shot from Toby Little ricocheted off, Lee Barney who almost scored by accident and later hit the foot of the post with a free-kick.
