ALTHOUGH enjoying most of the possession, Hitchin Town failed to turn this to their advantage.
James Verney’s opening shot was well saved by Dimitrios Kyriatzis, whose vital saves throughout the game frustrated Hitchin.
Bedfont defended patiently and relied on rare counter moves, using one to devastating effect. Then, after a spirited run, a low cross enabled Darryl Sanders to score.
The second half saw the same pattern, with Hitchin trying to penetrate.
