JAMAHL GODWARD’S early goal settled matters in Witham’s favour as they saw off ten-man Lancing.
His seventh-minute strike, which nestled inside the far post, proved to be the only goal of a tight encounter.
Witham were in control in the early stages, but just before half-time Lancing’s Liam Hendy headed over from a corner when he should have hit the target.
