A JACOB Hazel strike sent Whitby through to the next round as they beat 10-man Shildon.
A tight game caught alight after 27 minutes when the host’s Chay Liddle saw red for scything down Priestley Griffiths, who was injured in the challenge and had to leave the field.
The extra man told on the stroke of half-time when Liam Cooke turned smartly before releasing the ball into the run of Hazel and the striker, who’d had an earlier effort chalked off for offside, made no mistake.
