DOWNTON made it through to the next round of the FA Vase with a hard-fought 2-1 home win against Wincanton Town in the late summer sunshine.
The visitors started the game brightly but it was Downton who took the lead thanks to Dan Telfer.
The hosts doubled their lead whilst still in the first-half with a fine effort from Harry Crisp. Wincanton had the better of the second-half and did reduce the deficit, but the hosts held on to book their place in the next round of the competition.
