DAVID DOWSON netted a controversial 117th-minute winner as West Auckland edged past derby rivals Bishop Auckland.
The Northern League duo could not be separated after 90 minutes of normal time. Experienced frontman Dowson was then awarded a questionable spot-kick in the dying minutes, and he scored from 12 yards to put West into the next round and settle a tight tie.
West, FA Vase runners-up in 2012 and 2014, started the game on the front foot. Adam Mitchell and Anthony Bell both went close in the opening ten minutes.
