IT WAS Essex Senior League side Hadley who triumphed over Eastern Counties League side Hadleigh United in this unique FA Vase tie, dubbed the “Homophone Derby”.
Hadley went 1-0 up in the 28th minute when Luke Alfano capitalised on a rebound to slot home, following fine work from Solomon Ofori.
Two minutes later, they doubled their lead when a Alfie Bartam cross-cum-shot looped into the net meaning the Bricks went into the break with a commanding lead.
Hadleigh United were unable to mount a spirited fightback in the second half.
