A LONG-RANGE effort from Halifax’s Ben Tomlinson after two minutes promised an exciting affair. But in reality, it was a highlight of a first half that saw Halifax keeper Sam Johnson forced off after falling awkwardly, and little in terms of goal mouth action.
The second half started in a livelier fashion, with both keepers tested early on. But it was the home side who took the lead, when former Salford City man Billy Priestley glanced a Sam Topliss free-kick under replacement keeper Tom Nicholson on 52 minutes.
