A SUPERBLY contested friendly ended in favour of League Two Grimsby. In front of a capacity 2,000 crowd, the visitors took control in the 16th minute. Michee Efete rose highest to power in a Charles Verman freekick.
Rather than be deflated, NPL outfit Cleethorpes enjoyed their best period and deservedly levelled just beyond the half-hour mark.
Curtis Bateson latched onto a loose ball before expertly slotting low into the net. Both sides fielded a completely different XI for the second half in front of a record attendance.
