‘MYSTERY’ WALK-OUT NOT DUE TO WELLS

TUNBRIDGE Wells have been cleared on any wrongdoing in a “mystery” abandonment of a Southern Counties East Premier game with three minutes to go.
Tunbridge were leading 1-0 against visitors Croydon at Culverden Stadium on September 27 when referee John Nazari suddenly blew his whistle and walked off the pitch to the astonishment of bemused players, officials and supporters.
Mr Nazari, who is of Iranian origin, gave no explanation for his action, and left the ground, but in his report to the Kent FA, he claimed he had been abused by a spectator.
