FORMER Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers striker Tony Thorpe has quit as manager of United Counties League side Melton Town after just eight games in charge.
Thorpe, 42, who also played Non-League for Tamworth, Woking, Brackley Town, Stamford, Halesowen Town and Barton Rovers, claimed that he had unrealistic expectations for the Division One side.
Steve Hendey, who was appointed joint manager alongside Thorpe two months ago, will run the side for the remainder of this season.
