I WOULD like to ‘thank’ referee Sam Williams for abandoning this week’s Western League fixture between Bristol Telephones and Oldland Abbotonians.
The floodlights failed in the eighth minute but were out of action for just 25 minutes. Apparently though, under pressure from the Oldland manager, Mr Williams decided this was too long and abandoned the match.
The result… a 200-mile round trip for nothing in my case, a journey back to Derby for another Hopper, and refunds all round from the home club, and me driving out of the ground at 8.10pm [7.30pm kick-off] with the ...
