THE TROUBLE with football, a club secretary once told me, is that when you’re in it you want to be out of it, and when you’re out of it, you want to be in it.
It struck a chord with me and certainly will do for many in Non-League who help run clubs, whether on boards or committees, whether as paid employees or one of the selfless volunteers without whom the national game would cease to function.
